Yew-Wood and Elm Windsor Chair C.1800-1840

A quality early 19th century English Windsor armchair, made using the traditional mixed timbers of the form. The chair features a nicely figured elm seat, saddled and hand shaped, paired with a pierced yew-wood splat, hoop back and arm rail of rich, warm colour.

The arms retain their shaped front edges, a detail associated with better quality late 18th to early 19th Century Windsors, and the chair stands on turned legs united by a crinoline stretcher.

A very attractive and comfortable Windsor armchair with lovely colour and patination.
