Australian Cedar Bookcase C.1890

Antique late 19th century Australian cedar bookcase cabinet C.1890. Featuring traditional two part construction with a glazed upper section sitting atop a lower cupboard base.

The upper section is crowned with a stepped cornice with carved corbels at the corners, and has two full length glazed doors flanked by narrow bevelled mirror panels with adjustable shelves internally. Retaining original glass and amber glass knobs.

The lower section contains two drawers with original brass handles, sitting above two panelled cupboard doors with their original amber glass knobs. The doors are flanked and separated by mirrored panels matching those in the upper section - a nice feature adding light and depth to the piece. The whole is raised on a plinth base.

A very handsome piece of antique Australian furniture in lovely condition with a beautiful mellow faded patina.
