A quality four-section barrister bookcase by The Globe-Wernicke Co. Ltd, London, retailed as "Office & Library Furnishers," circa 1910. Constructed of quarter-sawn oak with a rich, warm patina, each of the four stacking sections has its original pull-up glazed door, sliding smoothly on the classic barrister mechanism. The moulded top has the shaped, rolled edge typical of the best English Globe-Wernicke production, and the case sits on a solid plinth base. The maker's ivorine label survives intact on the interior.
