George III Mahogany Chest of Drawers, C.1780-1800

$1,685.00

This George III mahogany chest of drawers, Circa 1780–1800, is a handsome, well-proportioned Georgian piece with excellent colour and a deep, mellow patina. The moulded top sits above three short drawers over three graduated long drawers, each cockbeaded and cut from richly figured mahogany, with brass keyhole escutcheons. The chest stands on ogee bracket feet.

The pierced brass batwing handles are replacements, but they are appropriate to the period and suit the chest beautifully.

The chest is in good condition, with the surface character expected of two centuries of use, including some age-related marks to the top. There is a minor loss to one of the bracket feet. A very practical and elegant Georgian chest of drawers, equally at home in a bedroom, hall or sitting room.
