A charming English cast iron pub table dating to circa 1920, of the type popular in taverns and hotel bars of the period. The tripod cast iron base is cast with a pierced foliate frieze centred by gilded bacchus mask medallions and terminates in three cabriole legs with paw feet. The mahogany top has a warm, rich colour with attractive figuring, and a matching timber undertier shelf sits low on the base. The cast iron has a black painted finish with the gilt highlights showing an appealing rubbed patina consistent with age and use. A sturdy and characterful occasional table, equally at home as a side table, plant stand, or genuine period pub table.
