Georgian oak mule chest of good proportions and a lovely warm nutty brown colour throughout.
The front is nicely detailed with three fielded panels beneath a moulded, hinged lift-top, each panel framed by boldly cusped ogee mouldings, characteristic of Welsh and Welsh Marches cabinetmaking of the period.
Below the chest well, sit two slipper drawers with original swan-neck pulls and batwing backing plates. The chest stands on ogee bracket feet and internally the chest is fitted with its original till to one end, itself containing two drawers.
Lovely colour and condition, this is a substantial piece, pracitcal as a blanket chest, linen store, or statement hall, living or bedroom furniture.
