A well-figured George III mahogany tripod wine table, dating from the third quarter of the 18th century. The generous circular mahogany top with a moulded edge, measuring 83cm in diameter, tilting on a simple block-and-catch mechanism. It stands 70cm high on gun barell and ring-turned column above a tripod base of cabriole legs terminating in pad feet, the legs carved with a husk and acanthus motif at the knee In lovely, solid condition, the top has an old, sympathetic timber patch repair, and one leg has a well-executed period repair. Good colour and patina throughout. A versatile small table, equally suited as a lamp table, wine table, or occasional table.
