A charming example of Victorian country pine furniture, this antique chest of drawers dates to the second half of the 19th century. Constructed in pale pine throughout, the piece follows the classic two-short-over-three-long drawer arrangement typical of the period, with turned wooden knobs and a moulded top with rounded front corners.
The chest is raised on turned bun feet that can be unscrewed and stored should a lower profile be preferred.
The back boards (visible in the photographs) retain their original unfinished pine with characteristic knot figuring, good evidence of age and honest construction. The piece has been stripped to its natural pine, giving it the warm, pale honey tone that makes Victorian pine so sought-after in contemporary interiors.
The drawers run smoothly and the piece is fully functional. As with all antique furniture, minor imperfections — small knocks, marks, and the patina of use — are present throughout and speak to its genuine age and working life.
